Gender Inequalities are Passe

Gender Inequality are Passé
People in Society believe that gender inequalities are a “thing of the past”. Through history gender roles have gradually changed where women are now in the work place and take less of the traditional role of being in the home.  Women who are employed  and educated face more challenges than men in the work place.

“Census data shows that women who work full-time still earn, on average 77 cents for every dollar men earn for performing the same work” (Peace Keeper). Women consistently hit the glass ceiling earlier than men and feel they have to prove themselves to be taken seriously (Lauer 203). This is only one way gender inequality still thrives in society…..
Many Americans still believe that a woman’s place is in in the home and when venturing off social order is disturbed (Lauer 202). With this belief flowing through society women have to overcome barriers regarding employment, education and family. Gender inequality does not only affect women on an individual level but also politically. “Equal representation is not a reality when over 50% of Americans are women yet only 22% of American senators are female” (Peace Keeper). Gender inequality is not passé.
